The Ideal Margherita
I would say "the best" but I know that's subjective, so we'll stick with "ideal":
- 2oz Espolòn Blanco Tequila
- 1oz Cointreau
- 1.5oz Fresh Lime Juice
After a lot of experimenting, I found that the key to a great margherita was simple, quality ingredients, and balance. The ratio you see above is what I have found to be the perfect balance, and the best results will come from a great lime. Of course you can swap the tequila and orange liqueur, but I've found Espolòn and Cointreau to be reasonably priced and taste great. Overall this recipe gives you a modestly sweet yet refreshing marg; enjoy!
